In an ofgem report (Published 14/10/11) they have revealed that the profit margins, per customer, of the big-six energy firms have risen eightfold in four months the average household bill is £1,345 a year! The Office for National Statistics said that hefty rises in gas and electricity bills last month drove the inflation increase The CPI rate of 5.2% now equals the high reached in September 2008, and was a large jump from August's rate of 4.5%. Meanwhile, annual RPI inflation, which also includes housing costs, reached 5.6% last month - the highest it has been since June 1991.

You will be making money from solar panels In three ways:
- You will make savings on your electricity bills as you no longer need to buy all your electricity from an external supplier.
- Through the Government's Feed-in Tariff (Fit) scheme – You get paid what is called the 'Generation Tariff', which is a direct payment from your energy supplier for each unit of electricity you generate. YES YOU GET PAID FROM YOUR ENERGY SUPPLIER This starts at 21p per kilowatt/hour (kWh), and this amount will increase in line with the rate of inflation for the next 25 years.
- You also get what is called the 'Export Tariff', which is a payment made for energy you send back to the electricity grid, as opposed to electricity you use yourself. This pays you an extra 3.1p per kWh.
- ALL OF THESE PAYMENTS ARE TAX FREE AND INDEX LINKED!
The generation tariff will be paid to you by cheque quarterly by your local utility supplier.
